Unlocking Insights from Earth Observation Imagery Using Machine Learning

Every year, petabytes of imagery are acquired by satellites orbiting our planet. These images capture everything from the effects of climate change on our corals reefs, to deforestation in the Amazon, to monitoring food security around the world. Machine learning offers a way to utilize these vast amounts of data to their fullest capabilities. This presentation will cover some of the most impactful examples using high spatial and temporal resolution imagery from the Planet Labs constellation of satellites combined with the longstanding heritage of lower resolution coverage from NASA’s Landsat and ESA’s Sentinel programs.
